Preaching The
Word Of God Consistently
Text: II
Timothy 4:1-5 LBC 30th World Missions Conference 3/3/2011
Preacher:
Pastor Jose B. Cabajar
We count it a blessing to have the preserved Word of God in our hands today
because despite of evil people who tried to hinder its propagation, the Word
still stood the test of time. We strongly believe that behind its
preservation and existence is the hand of God. In Psalm 12:6-7, the Bible
says, 6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried
in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. 7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD,
thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever. (KJV) What a
strengthening assurance for us to keep. We truly rejoice in the Lord for
having His preserved Word in our time.
The preciousness of the
Word of God is incomparable and its power is beyond our intellectual
capacity. The Bible says in Psalm 19:7, The law of the LORD is
perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure,
making wise the simple. (KJV) What a substantial treasure we have as we
serve the Lord Jesus Christ in this sin-darkened world.
As we go through the path
of duty, we must not neglect to magnify the Word of God in missions. We must
rejoice in the Lord because we are privileged to proclaim His hope-giving
Word to the lost and dying world. In our rejoicing and thanksgiving, we must
not forget that God’s Word is inseparable from true Christians who are
serving the Lord in sincerity and in truth. For such reason, we must love,
treasure, preserve, proclaim the Word and live by its God-glorifying
principle. Surely, God will bless our ministries and they will continue to
become a blessing to others.
Sad to say, but it seems
that many professing servants of the Lord these days are not deeply serious
in magnifying the Word of God in their ministries anymore. May we not
neglect to do what is right and pleasing before the sight of God. The Bible
reminds us of what we should do concerning right handling of the Word so we
may not be led to spiritual blunders. In II Timothy 2:14-16, it says, 14 Of
these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the
Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the
subverting of the hearers. 15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a
workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto
more ungodliness. (KJV)
Every called preacher of
God must be consistent in his job especially in preaching the Gospel of
Christ and in magnifying the Word of God in every mission endeavour. We must
keep in mind that God watches us as we serve Him and that we will give an
account before Him for what we have done in this present life.

As we see the global effect of sin in this worsening world, may our eyes
affect our heart to react and do what God commanded us to accomplish in
missions. The best thing we can do today is to pray for the lost, preach the
Word and lead them to the saving knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus
Christ. We must keep on magnifying the Word of God in missions and we will
be amazed of the working of the Holy Ghost in our midst.
In Romans 10:15, it is
written, And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written,
How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and
bring glad tidings of good things! (KJV)
